All about Bordeaux Baby!!

Guess who’s bizack!!! So getting back into to the groove of #winelife after a busy few months of work and I was like where should I start. After completing my #WSET2 my goal was to focus on one region each month to learn about the terroir, the exceptional vineyards, and wine makers. I had one unwritten rule don’t default to my likes- Pinot Noir from the northwestern US, Spanish Reds, German Pinot Noir, and Champagne. 

It’s a big friggin world and I’m getting my legs about me so, I grabbed my wine and spirits porn (you read it right @SommJournal, @WineEnthusiast, #TastingPanel) for inspiration. 

After reading three months of @winespectator, @sommjournal, and rereading my WSET specifications I thought- what about an Old World region? Boom let’s go with Bordeaux. Really tho, Nah not that. 
Not because it wasn’t a source of everything I want to master, but because it is a source of everything I want to learn and master. It’s classic, it’s timeless. FRFR, I don’t know that I could say what hasn’t been said already about Bordeaux. But maybe it’s not about that maybe it’s about making it approachable to someone intimidated by French wine. 

So for the month of May it’s about Bordeaux.  I copped three bottles fromMt. Washington Wine and Spirits. I wanted to be sure what I tasted and shared was something someone else could actually find, buy, and afford. The wines are at different (but reasonable) price points and appellations. So this very subjective sample contains- Chateau Respide-Medeville 2019 (Graves), Chateau La Mothe du Barry 2020 (Entre Deux Mers), and Closerie du Pelan 2000 (Côtes de Bordeaux).
